The Promise of Ventura County

Will our graduates have the economic foundation to put down roots right here at home?

Education is the foundation of a thriving community. But with the rising cost of living and a rapidly shifting economy, a high school diploma is no longer enough. If we want the next generation to find rewarding careers, buy homes, and raise families right here in the community that shaped them, we must ensure they graduate with highly competitive skills.

This means breaking down the silos between academic college prep and high-skilled trades. It means making sure every public dollar is invested in evidence-based practices that actually move the needle for our kids.

But how are we doing right now? Maggie believes in data-driven transparency to highlight our successes and expose where we need to grow. The decisions we make at the county level affect real kids in real classrooms every single day.

Ventura County Pathways to Prosperity

A data-driven look at College and Career Readiness across our districts.

Sources & Methodology:
• Educational Data: Official 2025 California School Dashboard, College/Career Indicator (CCI) Annual Data File, published by the California Department of Education. Metrics track the readiness of the most recent graduating cohort across all state-approved pathways (A-G, CTE, AP/IB, Dual Enrollment).
• Economic Data: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), "Earnings and unemployment rates by educational attainment" (2024). Incomes are annualized based on median weekly earnings of full-time wage and salary workers. "Skilled Trades" reflects the median earnings for Associate's degrees and advanced post-secondary non-degree awards.
